The contract is what you resort to when you are no longer able to communicate and reason with your supplier. When things don't go as expected, the first thing to do is to TALK ... not run around waving the contract and demanding "rights".
No offence to the OP as we don't know what stage they're at, but to all others .... you need an open honest dialogue with your supplier/contractor. When that goes wrong, then look at the contract!
Sorry DFC but I don't remember saying anything about behaving like this, I was just asking what it might be reasonable to expect from a builder.0 -
What to expect from a builder,
Work to the agreed estimate, if the costs go over, extra cost to be agreed with client before work takes place.
Good workmanship from qualified tradespeople, and appropriate certificates given to client at the end of the job.
Proper Health and Saftey procedures when on site and site left safe at the end of the day.
What I expect from a client,
Prompt payment at agreed stages as per contract.
Alterations to contract to be in writing and costs agreed before work commences.
Input and communication into the job
Loads of tea and biccys
For a builder to pick the windows and doors without client input is frankly laughable unless it is stated in the Bill of Quantities/Plans what the type of door /window is.0
