IFAs should say "I know nowt" but I want to earn commission on anything you will buy.

Follow this up with "Based on your answers my computer says "No"". [insert "yes" if applicable.

I earn my living from telling people what they already know. If the advice is right you will come back to me because of the value I add. If my advice is pants, it is not my fault, p155 off.

Judging by your signature you didn't know much about bonds when you took yours out. :rotfl:

    Hi,

I bought a flat at the end of October, I was recommended to take out a fixed rate deal by an IFA as he said interest rates look likely to rise.

And I'm sure that at some point in the life of your mortgage the advisor is going to be proved absolutely correct!

If any advisor could forecast future interst rates correctly, I can assure you that he wouldn't be sitting there flogging mortgages, he'd be sitting on his yacht somewhere hot with a glass of something nice in his hand!

    Fair point.

I was lazy. My fault and I do not want to sue anybody.

If a salesman had been offered 5% of my payments, he may have recommended it.
