Camcorder

DS needs to make a video diary of his sporting life for a website. We have access to DD's video camera that you put tapes in but I don't know how to transfer that to the PC and we no longer have a video recorder and don't have a dvd recorder.

I'm also rubbish at winding and rewinding tapes to find the right place and have recorded over some crucial bits of races, matches, etc.

I'm thinking that a simple digital recorder would be best so have looked at the 'flip' but know nothing about them. I do need a bit of a zoom facility and am thinking perhaps the 'flip' won't zoom enough!

Can anyone recommend a simple recorder that I can plug and play, wont run out of battery within 2 mins, and has reasonable enough quality to put on a website?
