slighty off topic but i believe the UK should move onto the Australlian system also, also making NRP's CSA Arrears debts on thier credit files etc...
It peeves me off something rotten when PWC confuse the issue of contact - maintence. Yes its tough to get by but its always the child that is losing out in these bitter disputes.Had my amazing little girlie 08/12/2007 - 11 days late! 9lbs 3oz
My second little girl entered the world 20/03/2010 - 11 days late! 8lbs 4oz
Sealed pot challenge 4 - 332
Make £11k in 2011 £0/£11000 - 0%
And lots of other challenges!

Life's tough isn't it?
Just ask any PWC.0 -

Hmm maybe making a name and shame list of all PWC who withold contact because they want more money is a way forward too?!!!
The list could go on, there are rights and wrongs on both sides but needless to say from one or two comments, it's how many have become conditioned in society, the bitterness always comes out and is taken out for the benefit of one parent but it affects those most vulnerable,, the child/ren!!!!!!!!

It doesn't seem fair that if each parent has equal nights (eg 7 out of 14 nights), that the child benefit isn't split equally, only one party can claim child benefit plus tax credits and on top of that the other parent (whilst having their kids for 50% of the time) still has to pay maintenance.
One parent therefore gets
100% child benefit,
100% tax credits,
approx 50% child maintenance payments.
But the other parent who has the same amount of food and child care costs etc gets:
0% child benefit
0% tax credits and
has to PAY 50% maintenance payments.
So in effect they get.... nowt... and have to pay on top.Newlywed at the point I joined the forum... now newly separated0 -
Newlywed- you can actually write to the CB centre in Washington and they actually do pay child benefit to each parent if that is what each parent wishes, half amount each, the child can still technically "reside" with the main PWC but if both are agreeable, they do actually split the CB. We have had a few cases where parents have done this.

Thanks - I never knew that!!!
Unfortunately the "PWC" and the word "agreeable" aren't often used in the same day - let alone the same sentence!! - so I think that somewhat unlikely
Does that mean if you have half the CB you can claim child tax credits too? That would make a huge difference to us and our chances to treat the kids.
And what about maintenance then? Are neither entitled to CSA or both entitled to claim from each other?

Newlywed,, not sure on the Tax credits i believe, correct me someone if incorrect, that only one family at a time can claim this for whichever child they have, the TC i am fairly certain cannot be shared. It is worth maybe ringing the CB in Washington up and checking if both parents have to agree to receive half of the CB, just in case, i know it can be done when both agree.
