and there is no doubt they'll get it..... simply too big to be allowed to fail. At least in the US that is.
The UK plants... entirely a different matter. Anyone want money on them taking the loans and having to shut inside a year anyhow?

What makes you think that the UK government will offer the loans that GM are requesting?
My (perhaps incorrect) understanding was that they are reluctant to offer loans in preference of trying to make it more attractive to the consumer to purchase new cars.0 -
hasnt obama said in the past though that letting one of the big 3 fail to make the other two surviving more likely an option? Ford is safe, chrysler likely to survive with a partnership with Fiat, so letting GM fall shouldnt be completely ruled out.0

I think there is a world of difference between GM failing and Vauxhall/Opel failing. With VX having several cars in the top 5 sellers every month I would be very surprised if a buyer wasn't found.0
