The problem here is that most people want to live their retirement intheir own home without paying rent or a mortgage. The only way they can do that is if they buy their own home.
Agreed. However, as I understand it, for many retirees with little or no savings, housing and council tax will be covered by benefits.
In fact you need to have a resonable pension/ savings to be better off in retirement as a home owner.0
