I don't think of it as selfless. It really is very easy to do. Especially considering that you are literally saving someone's life.
When I donated the most traumatic part was undergoing a general anaesthetic, you don't necessarily even have to do that nowadays:
The harverst explained
I decided to leave the issue of contact with the recipient to her. All I know is that she was a teenage girl in France and that she was alive and well several months after the transplant.
Coincidentaly, some years later a friend of mine needed a bone marrow transplant and found one through Anthony Nolan, so I got to understand the process from the patients view as well.
For all those sitting on the fence wondering wether to join the register, please just do it. The overwhelming likelyhood is that you'll never be contacted, but there's just the tiniest chance you could save someone's life.0 -
Well it is a very good thing you do and I agree it was a selfless act and one to be admired
Perhaps you guys could visit the link n my sig for other free charities. In the weeks and months to come I hope more can be added once I find more free charity links.0
