Business

Hi everyone,

Sorry if this is posted on the wrong board and feel free to shift it to a more appropriate board. Here goes...

My other half is wanting to start her own business after being on maternity leave for 9 months having and looking after our beautiful son. So, she wants to start selling baby items, but more towards prams and larger items as such. Problem is we don't know where to start! I.e. wholesalers, import/export etc etc. Is there anyone who could maybe help or point us in the right direction?

Many many thanks in advance,

John.

    try yell.com
  • try approaching the companies themselves eg mamas and papas, they must have details of who and how they supply.

    I agree with Tiddly Widdly.

For the products you are interested in, you need to find the manufacturer. It's common sense on how to do this - you can find their details on the box/packet, them you Google them, and eventually you will come accross their contact details. Phone them up (don't write or email, you need to speak to them to push for the info your are looking for).

Ask for the contact details of their distributors. Some distributors will sell to you direct, some will refer your to wholesalers. Ask, ask, and ask. Eventually you will find the information you are looking for.

    Thanks everyone for your help.

Will most manufacturers/distributors deal with me directly as currently we are not a full business if that makes sense, i.e. we have not registered with HMRC etc. We will be doing this but we thought we could test the water so to speak with a few small sales and see how it goes. Are we allowed to do this or do we need to register as a business first?

    Thanks again.
