Selling Old Jewellery

My folks have a tin full of old Jewellery, a real hotch potch of stuff including broken bits and gem stones.

They are considering selling it but don't know where to start. I've had a look around and there's EBay or auction houses and I've found websites where you post it off to them and then they send you a cheque, but i dunno if i trust those sites. Plus most of them only deal in precious metals and some of this stuff contains precious stones.

So basically, can anyone offer any advice? has anyone used one of these sites and got a good result??

without any problems, payment within a couple and days and received a good price for gold -much better than I was offered in the local shops.

They do specialise in gold & silver but their FAQ's section says they also buy diamonds. It may be worthwhile sending them an email to see if they are interested in your gem stones.
