Things to do in Dundee and surrounds

I'm overwhelmed! Can't thank you all enough! Loads of brilliant info! Just hope we get decent weather to cram all this in. Used to live in Fife for a few years so got to know St Andrews fairly well. Just never really ventured over to Dundee much. Last time we went we used our Tesco Days Out vouchers to get into the Discovery and Sensation but didn't do the Verdant Works - may do this time, had forgotten. Thanks for the eateries - good to know they've been tried and tested!
Had thought of a trip up to Arbroath. Signal Tower sounds brill. Many years ago, as a child, we bought fresh smokies from a little backstreet shop where they were 'smoked'. Can you still do that? I'm drooling at the thought, but somehow I don't reckon my kids will be terribly impressed! LOL. Who does the best ice-cream? That'll impress em!
Can't wait to go now!Money can't buy you happiness, but it does bring you a more pleasant form of misery.

can still buy smokies in various little back street places near the harbour in Arbroath. Marco's is the best place for icecream, homemade I recommend the puff candy one. Its a pink shop overlooking the harbour. good for chips too.MF aim 10th December 2020 :j:eek:MFW 2012 no86 OP 0/20000

Thanks LilacPixie! Not going to tell the kids where I get my info from. This will just go to prove that mums know everything!
Puff candy and ice-cream - my two favourite things at once - sounds like heaven! Chips too..... it just gets better. Diet? What diet?Money can't buy you happiness, but it does bring you a more pleasant form of misery.

iirc The little smokie hut opposite the chip shop at the harbour was visited by Billy Connolly when he was on his world tour of Scotland, so they can eat where the stars do!! hehe! Even if it's not the same one, the smokies are all the same method.
iirc there's boat trips out from Arbroath but I'm not sure if they are on at this time of year. There's a kids indoor play area at West Sands but previously mentioned Pleasureland will probably appeal more.
There's a skatepark too if they do skateboarding, and avertical world for indoor climbing. Both cost money, though, not sure about discounts for them:rolleyes: http://www.averticalworld.co.uk/junior.htm
http://www.dundeecity.gov.uk/events/ is the Dundee council what's on guide.

I'm not sure whether you're taking a car/getting a hire car, but only about 20 mins drive away across near St Andrews is Scotland's Secret Bunker - http://www.secretbunker.co.uk/ - took my parents there a couple of years ago when they were up visiting as a surprise. I expected to humour them but actually really enjoyed it myself!
Unfortunately it doesn't list the prices on the website but I can't remember it being expensive or begrudging the ticket price. After we'd been to that I drove us along to Anstruther - home of the UK's finest fish and chips - all in all a perfect day :j0 -

Hi I was just going to print this out - Im also going to Dundee next week. But when I click the above links they take me to a Pizza Hut ordering page - Does anyone know if they are doing the Kids Visit Free this year?
Cheers:wave: Fit Likeee!:j0 -
sorry, don't know if Pizza Hut are doing the offer, but if they're not, maybe you could use Tesco clubcard vouchers for Sensation to keep your costs down?Member of the first Mortgage Free in 3 challenge, no.19
