Free Dulux Colour Sample Fan Deck - worth around £30

I recently emailed Dulux because they give away free colour samples (as in on card not paint) but only one by one on their website. As I'm just starting my own business in event planning, I was looking for a colour fan deck to help with designing. I asked them if there was anyway they could send me one sample of each and every colour (assuming I'd get a pack with lots of little bits of paper in it that I could narrow down, or they'd say no.

I got one email back a few weeks ago saying they'd passed my query on to a different department. I didn't hear anything back and kind of forgot about it. This morning, in the post, I got a full colour sample fan deck for professional designers in it's own case with a colour isolation tool (there's about 7 colours per strip so it isolates them). More importantly, it was FREE!

Unfortunately because I needed one I paid £30 for a similar PANTONE one about a week ago which I'm now going to be sending back after it arrives. I don't know if it will work for everyone but, if you need one, it's really useful and saves a lot of money. Plus, hey, it's worth a shot :)

P.S. If you don't know what a colour fan deck is, this is what the one I paid for looks like and the free one is just as good: http://www.pantone.co.uk/pages/products/product.aspx?pid=14&ca=1&s=1

They're around £100 for 3 of them so, for me, it was definately a brilliant freebie lol :D

Guys Pantone books are for really technical guides for offset printing and, not at all the same as a Dulux swatch, so not a fair price comparison. In my industry the Pantone book @£100 pays for itself a thousand times over.

The Dulux fan guide is to get the right wall paint colour on your walls different ball game, but also very useful.

The dulux or any other brand of paint colour are usually free anyway.

There purpose is meant for painters and decorators or interior designers etc, so that they can show clients the range of colours available.

If you contact any local trade paint supplier, they will usually let you have these if you are going to actually use them when purchasing paint from them in the future.

  • I got an email reply saying that all colour samples are available on dulux.com. Looks like they've decided to got give any more away.
  • You can still request a free colour guide in the dulux UK website (click in Colour help tools -> Colour guide).
