Hoping someone can help me, please!
My DD spilt dark purple nail varnish on our dark brown leather sofa at the weekend! It didn't spill directly on to the sofa, but went through a throw. she didn't tell me she'd done it so by the time I discovered it, it was already dry!
I tried to rub it with baby wipes & although it removed a little bit of the surface colour of the varnish, it's also taking out the colour of the sofa!
Obviously I daren't try nail varnish remover, so I wondered if anyone else had experience of this & knows the best way to remove the varnish without damaging the sofa...pretty please?!:D

If its not a large amount i think that i would be tempted to just let it wear off on its own, as clothes rub against it eventually it should disappear.
Good luck

Missingink, you could try really hot water. I used very warm water when my daughter decided to 'paint' her hands in mum's pretty 'paint'. I did panick a litlle as I thought there was no way i could use nail varnish remover as there was just too much. But then remembered that when i go in a hot bath I normally find my nail varnish has come offf slightly. Was able to get my DD clean without her stinking of nail varnish:D .
May take a while but a least you are not going to ruin your leather by putting nail varnish remover on it.

A slightly odd one here but spermacide (specifically condoms with spermacide on them) takes nail varnish off. I used to work in sexual health and if I wore nail varnish when doing condom demonsrations it would take off the varnish.
Smells horrible though ;-)0 -
I would dip a q-tip in nail varnish remover and dab onto the spillage to pick up as much as possible and avoid lifting the sofa colour.
Thanks to MSE, I am mortgage free!

Good idea!:D
I usually use baby wipes to remove any varnish off my skin so that's what I tried-leather is just skin too, right? But as I said, it removed very little of the varnish & took some of the colour out of the sofa!:rolleyes:0 -

I had a tube of Nonoxil 9(sp?)which I threw away because it was out of date & I never used it...wish I'd kept it now!
Don't know how I'd explain to OH why I'd have to buy some more...he doesn't know about the sofa...YET!:eek:0 -
I just got a little bit of nail polish I my brown leather sofa. I went to turn the lamp on and my finger caught the back of it. I had checked it before hand and it felt dry - wrong - husband not happy and I am annoyed with myself. I have a nail varnish removal pen which we have already tried to get it off with and it wont budge! All my views are just that and do not constitute legal advice in any way, shape or form.£2.00 savers club - £20.00 saved and banked (got a £2.00 pig and not counted the rest)Joined Store Cupboard Challenge]0

What ever you do, DO NOT USE NAIL POLISH REMOVER! It will eat at the leather.
Do you have house insurance. When this happened to me my insurance copany sent me someone round with a bottle of something and it came off with that.Ebay 13........1583.46/2000.00 Amazon sales 54/50 Etsy sales 63/50
