Best 40/42" full hd for max £700?

Hi all. We are off telly shopping this weekend and want to get a full hd tv around 40/42" .

I was looking at a Samsung today which seemed ok but just wondering what people have and what is recommended and also where is the best place to go to buy one?

Would prefer it to be 100hz's but not a major problem if it's not.

We want to be able to bring it home the same day too lol

I'm not fully up to date with the latest TV's, but at 42" you want to be looking at plasmas rather than LCDs ideally, and Pioneer and Panasonic are the ones to go for.

If you can, find the best price from anywhere, then get John Lewis to price match it, as they give a free 5 year warranty with their TVs which is well worth having.

with you paying that kind of money , your going to realy want expert reviews and not from joe bloggs . so the only real way to go is WHICH magazine . they give the most detailed and expert reviews . they do a 30 day online subscription for a £1 which you obviously cancel once you have gathered all the info you want concerning which is the best tv out there in your price budget. good luck and enjoy your new BIG telly;)

Save your pound, by going to your local library, and reading the Which? report for free! ;)

You do not need to be a library member to do this.

I bought a TV from them on boxing day and they are pretty good. They will price match anything so you need to do your research first.

They are perfectly open to haggling, especially if your buying a stand or something as well.

£700 should get you something very good. I paid £500 in a sale for my 40" Sony and I love it.

To add something else. In Richer sounds they do a 5 year warrenty for 10% of the purchase value. I paid £50 for it on my TV, in comet / curry's / argos they charge nearer to £150 for it.
