Well today i recieved a letter from my car financing company telling me that they owe me £150. I looked in my bank account and there it was. I'm currently obsessively saving for a house deposit so under normal circumstances it would go there......
But today is my Birthday and as the money was unexpected I feel that the universe is trying to tell me to spend it on something frivolous.
What would you do?

Trying to only spend money when I absolutely have to.
Barclaycard: £4559-1500 = £3059 (Will have £900 to add to that end of September)
Loan from Friend = £2000

I would save it for the house.
But if your head and your heart want to compromise why not half it. £75 into the house deposit fund (better than nothing) and £75 to spend on yourself... plenty for a birthday treat.0 -
Why don't you spend only half of it on your birthday treat, and the rest in the house deposit, you weren't expecting it so its a bonus.
Happy BirthdayLife is about give and take, if you can't give why should you take?0 -
Thanks both of you
I hadn't considered doing the half and half thing. Great idea Trying to only spend money when I absolutely have to.Barclaycard: £4559-1500 = £3059 (Will have £900 to add to that end of September)Loan from Friend = £20000 -
Its your birthday, have some fun with part of it, why don't you have a look at MSE's 2 for 1 restaurant offers etc and go out for a cheap meal. Then you can have some fun and save some0

2 for 1 restaurant would be good! I've rung up a friend and suggested we go to London for the day, I think it will be money well spent. Especially if we can get a cheap meal in with the bargain.Trying to only spend money when I absolutely have to.Barclaycard: £4559-1500 = £3059 (Will have £900 to add to that end of September)Loan from Friend = £20000

When I get a nice bonus like that I normally use a bit for a treat, a bit to savings and a bit towards debt2p off is still 2p off!0

I'm torn!!!! You're all making sense but I can only pick one. London has had to be cancelled so at the moment it's still ready for the mortgage fund.
