Take care with RAC motor insurance details

RAC have changed the way they look at NCD.
They say they now are only taking the NCD which has been earned by the main driver, (who may or may not be the policyholder).
This is not made clear when getting on line quotes - a named driver is allowed to be the main driver, but they don't tell you that the NCD discount has to be the main driver's entitlement, not the policyholders. (They just "swap" the policyholder's input NCD, and put in the policy documents that the main driver has earned the NCD)
ALSO: The (TP) driving other cars extension is granted the main driver only (irrespective of whether the main driver is the policyholder or a named driver).
Anyone who has taken out an RAC policy since January, and have nominated a named driver to be the main user may want to double check the policy documents over this.

Cheers Quentin,
I'm not sure what their logic in doing this is as I cannot see it as a commercial advantage and I would assume it will create more admin for them.
It will be interesting to see what happens at renewal when the Policyholder goes to transfer insurers and advises the new company of their no claims bonus only for the RAC to give the bonus in someone elses name. I wonder if pushed whether they will produce a written letter confirming the policy holder is claim free.
The DOCs is going to confuse some policemen thats for sure0 -
Insurance is straight forward as it's based on the utmost good faith.
Being deceitful - then you enter a whole new realm......
I'm not for a second suggesting you are being deceitful - it's one of those random comments.Reassuringly expensive0 -
You need to elaborate on your comment as it seems posted in the wrong thread.0
