Oops! I've lost my sick note. What should I do?

I went to see the doctor about a week ago to get a sick note, which was for four weeks.
I didn't send it off straight away, because I was expecting the DSS to send me a "reminder about sick notes" letter with a pre-paid envelope, so that I wouldn't have to use a stamp. But they never did. And now I can't find the sick note.
What should I do? Should I just see the doctor again and get another one? What happens about the dates for which the DSS don't have a sick note? Thanks.

Panic over! I've found it!
All the same, me being the clutter bunny that I am, I'd like to know what the procedure is if I should ever lose sick notes again in the future. Thanks in advance for your replies.0 -
send them off straight away so you dont lose them, and dont be so tight in the future :grinheart
p.s. that was a joke :dance:0 -
Phone your GP surgery and ask for a duplicate. I've had to do that fairly regularly what with the DWP losing my sick notes.0

Your best keeping a copy to if you can. Perhaps make a scan just in case.
I always scan all documents because I am always loosing things too.0 -
Yeah I have also had to ring my GP surgery to get duplicate of sick note/forms for DWP as they have lost them! The GP has been fine - and wrote in block capitals across it duplicate!!Weight Loss - 102lb0

I wasn't aware that you could get duplicates. In the past, GP's have told me that they can't backdate sick notes, but I guess that's not the same as getting a duplicate of a note already issued.
Thanks.0 -
Yeah backdating sicknotes isnt the same as issuing a duplicate! In the instance I mentioned the DWP had lost the form/sick note I sent in so I contacted my GP who did a new one and stamped Duplicate right across it and sent a new one in! Serves them right for losing the first one - I know they got it because I had sent it recorded delivery with my IB50 and they got that fine!!Weight Loss - 102lb0

Where I live sick notes can be backdated. Iv'e had backdated ones several times if my note has run out and I can't get an appt for a couple of weeks the doctor has backdated it so I still got paid by work.:heart2: Love isn't finding someone you can live with. It's finding someone you can't live without :heart2:0

Yeah I guess the backdated bit cant be done if it is the first time you are wanting one! Ie the first time you are sick and its not to join onto another sick note if you know what i mean?Weight Loss - 102lb0

you can get a prepaid envelope from the post office - so no need to pay for stamps!0
