When is best time to get dress fitted?

I bought my dress from Landy and last night I was finally able to try everything on as the full outfit with the correct underwear on. The problem is the dress does not fit properly around the bust! We thought the problem first was because I was not wearing proper stapless undies but no the problem is with the cut of the bust area of the dress. So it will have to be altered. When would you say the best time to have the dress altered would be? After seeing myself in the dress last night the impetus to diet is well and truely back to help loosen the dress a bit! The wedding is in the last week of May so three months to go. Should I delay for a while before I fork out the money for alterations incase any weight loss does affect the dress or just go for peace of mind and have it altered now?

Is it a style of dress that could have a corset fastening put at the back maybe? If you're going to pay for alterations anyway, be nice to have flexibility built into the dress, so any last minute weight loss (or in my case probably gain), can be allowed for.

In my opinion i would suggest you get it done sooner rather than later. When i had my prom dress altered it had to be sent back to be done again because there was something not quite right with it, so i would say now would be your best option just to be on the safe side of things! You don't want to be stressing yourself out about your dress 2 or 3 weeks before your wedding! :)

Sorry for hijacking your thread a bit, I'm not too far from being able to pick up my dress and was wondering if anyone knows of a really good alteration service/seamstress in the Liverpool area? I do know of one who altered my sister's dress but the bodice ended up not fitting properly so I obviously don't want to use this lady. Personal recommendations and experience etc would be really helpful!! Thanks all!!!:j
