I don't have a TV as I don't consider that particularly essential. I do consider internet to be essential though so I kill two birds with one stone by using the TV companies' online viewing. No need for a TV or a licence but getting free entertainment out of my normal internet charge.

I think you still need a tv licence if you watch tv through the computer

    You don't:

"You do not need a TV Licence to view video clips on the internet, as long as what you are viewing is not being shown on TV at the same time as you are viewing it."

    From tvlicensing.co.uk

You only need one if you're watching it at the same time as it being shown on TV.

I could give my tv up but then the kids would leave home.....hmmmmm now theres a thought..

I have given up my dishwasher (well it broke and I didn't get it fixed) its saved a fortune in electric although I hate washing up I hated stacking the dishwasher more.

I gave up the gym after initially insisting it was essential and started running and loved it.

I have given up take aways since starting the cambridge diet - £40 a week but save a fortune in take aways..

mobiles are now payg - so many good sim only deals out there.

    Internet - an absolute essential!

edit: to say my car is also essential...
