Asbestos Compensation Cheque in US Dollars

Hi,
I need some advice from the MSE community please:
I have received a cheque payable to myself for $2150.63 US Dollars.
This is part of a number of compensation payments I have received from a trust setup following the bankruptcy of a US asbestos manufacturing company (this is the Johns Manville Trust – Google it for more info.). I have received a couple of these payments (via solicitors) because my dad died of an illness caused by Asbestos made by this company.
This is a Bank of New York cheque issued by Travelex Australasia Group. (The solicitors who sent me this are based in Australia). Previous payments were made into my bank directly and at a very bad exchange rate with bank fees over which I had no control.
I need to split this money into equal thirds to share between myself and my brother and sister. I want to do this in the most efficient way. My sister lives in the US and has a US bank account. Her bank won’t take the cheque without me being present. Is there any way to avoid changing this cheque into pounds then changing a third of it back into $ to pay to her?
Does anyone have any suggestions?
Many thanks.
Regards,
George
