sainsburys lean scotch mince 500g currently on offer at 2 for £6 (it is very expensive, normally even worse at3.99 per pack) is brilliant. I dry fry it and NO fat comes out and it has a good texture. For economy reasons, we only use half a pack at a time to make spag bol for 2 adults and 2 young teens. HTH.

Like Fire Fox i have been mixing the best leanest mince i can afford with Quorn for years, i use half a bag of frozen Quorn to 500g of mince and use this as the equivalent of 1kg of mince once fried together you really can't tell.

...it turned out to be mush
It tasted...okay, but I couldn't stand the texture. I'm quite bad at not tasting with my eyes, but that said I do not think it was good quality.

I think it was a combination of bad quality Mince & the water it accumalated in the freezing process.
I remember as a kid, my Mum used to wash the Mince before she cooked it and it turned to mush as well.
I wash all Meat/Poultry, but i NEVER wash Mince - due to the fact that it turns to horrible mush.

I bought some of the tesco frozen mince when it was on offer a few months back and ended up having to feed it to the dog

Truly disgusting mush which, even when drained, tasted greasy. Def a false economy (dogs liked it though :D)

I tend to get the tesco lean minced beef when it is on the 2 for £4 offer and, like others said, drain the fat off.
