Somebody mentioned to me that these netbooks don't have a CD/DVD drive. Maybe not a huge issue for most, but certainly a consideration perhaps?0
-
Of course you could by an external or a xbox hd dvd drive
Just a quick question how do you change thread titles0 -
As I'm extremely tech-challenged I like the inclusion of XP as opposed to Linux. Looks a very good deal to me.Call me Carmine....

This looks good but does anyone know about the battery life on this?
Is it a 3 cell or a 6 cell?
Does it have a touch pad or a bump on the keyboard you wiggle?
Any non Windows variants of this?
Is this the last of the 8.9" units to make space for the new 10" models?
If any one has one how long does it take to power up from cold and connect via Wifi and open a browser?
Does it dual boot like the nice Sony Netbook (costs a fortune!)Seth.0 -

3 cell, ~2.5 hours
Touchpad.Does it have a touch pad or a bump on the keyboard you wiggle?
Don't think so, but I could be mistaken.Any non Windows variants of this?
There are plenty of suppliers still selling the 8.9" models, but yes 10" are appearing & will no-doubt become the typical size.Is this the last of the 8.9" units to make space for the new 10" models?
Though IMO the 10" offers no benefit, as all the ones i've seen are the same resolution as their 8.9" counterparts. (1024x600).
I have the Acer Aspire One(AA1) HD version with XP installed, and that's up & running in ~ 30 seconds. If any one has one how long does it take to power up from cold and connect via Wifi and open a browser?
Obviously this netbook may have a different speed harddrive, and if it comes pre-installed with XP it'll probably be filled with bloatware to slow things down.
No reason it shouldn't be possible; theres nothing special about netbooks, they're just small PCs. Partition the HD, stick a bootloader in (GRUB), and you can boot into as many different OS's as you have space (and inclination) to install.Does it dual boot like the nice Sony Netbook (costs a fortune!)0
