Hi,
I want to upgrade my digital camera and am looking at a new point and shoot camera.
I have lookked at the Casio range (current camera is a Casio & well happy) but they dont seem to have the features I want:
Face recognition
Blur control (cant remember right name but stops blurring & isnt antishake)
Auto Tracking (follows subject to stop blurring)
Image Stabilizer
At least 3 -5 optical zoon
Would like 10-12MP
Have looked at the following, what do you think or what would you buy,
Cannon Powershot SX200 IS (12MP)
or wait for
Panasonic Lumix DMC-TZ7
I have read LOADS of reviews and even more confused now, they all recommend cameras for different reasons
Any other suggestions or comments most welcomed, im a bit confused by it all but like the lookk of both these cameras for different reasons. I like the features on the TZ7 but also like the features and blink detection/xtra zoom on the canon.
Want to take pictures of the kids, days out, scenes, animals nothing fancy but like the thought of the zoom.
Not had a panasonic or canon before so dont know the picture quality
Cheers

I'm no expert, but I borrowed my mum's Lumix for my recent holiday in India. It has a 10x zoom and was amazing. Really lightweight, battery lasted ages, photos are great and there are some great little features on there such as a setting that helps capture the light brilliantly when doing sunset/rise photos. It's made me want to buy the DMC-TZ7 for sure.0

Thanks I have sided with the Panny but like the zoom on the Canon. Any others have/used these cameras and have any thoughts?0

I've been looking into a decent new camera since my second Sony compact (will never buy Sony again) packed up. A couple of friends of mine have the Panasonic TZ5 and I have to say the quality of images is stunning, was about to buy this when I saw the TZ7 was about to launch so thats what I'm going for, the reviews from the experts rate it as the best compact of any kind. I fly a powered paraglider so to be able to take this up with me and take pictures at 12 times zoom and HD video as well is quite appealing!0

They have just updated the reviews of compact cameras on the gadget show:

Edit: sorry, hadn't read properly and didn't realise you only wanted info on those 2 cameras!0 -
I have a panasonic which I am happy with. It is a year old so not the latest model but I like it. I bought my ds a fuji for christmas. That has slightly better features. He is happy with that and he is more technical than me. That has the anti blurring etc etc.Anyone who lives within their means suffers from a lack of imagination:beer:

10-12mp ? Are you planning to print stuff on A3 paper or there is another reason you need so many pixels?0

Hi thanks for all the feedback.
ring_24601 - I wanted to print out some large prints of our children and make them into posters. However I do like the features on these 2 cameras, and some of the 7-8MP dont have the AF tracking etc. I also have a 6MP which I want to upgrade to face recognition and AF tracking for taking pics of the kids, keep getting blurred pictures as thy on the go all the time
buyitall - will read the reviews of the gadget show, am interested in the compact scene so may change my mind ha ha
also read some reviews on the panny fx550 again like the TZ range not out until end of the month. Will see when they come out the price range.0 -
