Help with Bankruptcy Petition Please!!!

I have just had a bankruptcy petition served on me (guarantee I should never have signed to do with an old job that I left in 2006!!!!!) had rec Stat Demand in Nov and heard nothing more so thought they had decided not to bother, today after getting over the initial shock, thought the papers would say what to do and they say NOTHING.....no mention of SOA or even if I should attend the date!!!! Date set for 18th March (so not that long!) Rang the court and they said it was in my best interest to attend but said that the order would mention paperwork I should bring if it was relavant...order says nothing...they said well just bring yourself! Does anyone have a similar experience or know more...am worried that I am going to be flying by seat of my pants in front of the judge!!!! I know that I could defend it but at the end of the day my defence is flaky cos although I had no control over what the company and other directors did once I had left (i.e. not pay the bills) I did sign the guarantee and that is all the court sees!!!!!! Before you ask I did try over the last two years to get my name removed from the paperwork but it was impossible when my ex boss would not cooperate!!!!! Am owed huge amount in unpaid wages and directors loans that should have been paid back but the other Director involved who had guaranteed these figures personally to me has been made BR!!!! being chased by creditors that he has failed via a business that has been wound up and now he is BR too they have turned to me!!!!
Please help!!!!!!! Sorry for the long winded garble!!!!! basically should I take anything!?!?! think the only choice to stop being chased forever more and to put this whole sorry episode behind me is the bankruptcy but would like to have a chance in court to have my say (i.e. not my fault as I had left the company etc) will I get to do this? does anyone know! Thanks in advance!!!!

as far as I remember if a creditor petitions for your BR I dont think you need to fill an SOA or anything else bankruptcy wise in..just turn up on the dayWe all die. The goal isn't to live forever, the goal is to create something that will0

Thanks guys for the advice...I spoke to an insolvency practitioner today (got 30 mins of advice for free!!!! by phone, just kept asking questions!!!!) so it would seem that I just take myself to court, I don't need to take anything else and wait to disclose everything about my SOA with the OR when the time comes. At least I know a little more about what more to expect.
Thanks so much for the advice thou confirms what the IP said.
Just got to wait for the 18th now!!!!BR Nov 2009 thinking about the future for the first time in 3 yrs!:j first step to moving on! plus will never ever sign anything for anyone in business ever again!0 -
Glad to hear all went well...I couldnt find a post from someone similar to you that appeared a while ago....I was convinced you just turned up & fill no SOA etc in...thank you for putting my mind at ease!!We all die. The goal isn't to live forever, the goal is to create something that will0

After the 18th will post some more info about my experience for others to see...I don't think there are as many people in my position so it would be good for others served with a petition to know what to expect.
Thanks again

Not many are "lucky" to be in the position you are most have to save & scrape for fees....someone being petitioned is pretty rare but sadly becoming more common so any experiance is a bonus really when someone comes along looking for answers...
Look forward to reading updates !
