She says that if she opts for a DMP then her job is safe but if she opts for bankruptcy they could possibly dismiss her for gross misconduct.

yeh i read that but i'm failing to comprehend how it's classed as gross misconduct at work when the bankruptcy is something in her personal life.... unless the arrears are with RBS??

Quite a lot of employers would have an issue with bankrupcy - anyway working for a bank means that bankrupcy is a no no to be fair you can kind of see their point!!!!

    Hi there

This is my own thoughts exactly, but then I have to realise the position I am in. The job I do and the sytems I work with give me access to all & sundry really, although specifically in my role I do not deal with any money transmissions at all. But they have to be fair to everyone I suppose. It states in my T & C's that Bankruptcy is classed as Gross Missconduct as it could affect the reputation of the bank and also lead me to commit possible fraud. etc etc.
I don't have any arrears with RBS Group at all thankfully! The only thing I have is a very very basic Natwest STEP ACCOUNT. This is all I want now, just access to MY money!!

    Thanks for your concerns.
  • I also work for a credit provider.

To have an employee with serious financial trouble could lead to temptation when dealing with money and accounts.

As a bankrupt I would not be entitled to sign a credit agreement even on behalf of my employer as creditor.

In my contract a CCJ would be enough for me to be terminated for gross misconduct, not sure how a default would be looked upon. I also have to consent to periodic random checks of my file with CRA's.
    I have a cunning plan!
Proud to be dealing with my debts.
