I am currently working full time but have also been offered a second job working in the evenings for £8 per hour. Does anybody know of a site that has a calculator so that I can work out whether it is worthwhile taking the second job after deductions, etc ?
Thanks
Thanks

I don't know of a site, sorry... :think: you could try looking at this site to see if there's any info on there http://www.direct.gov.uk/en/Employment/index.htm

ooh also... just found this on another site:
"
Question
From September I will be a full-time Masters student, and will be taking two jobs to support myself, working 37 hours per week. Will I have to pay a higher tax rate on my second job?
Answer
The income tax you pay is determined by how much you earn, regardless of how many jobs you have. If tax is being deducted at source (i.e. from your monthly salary) then your tax-free allowance will be applied to one job.
For the 2008-09 tax year you have a tax-free allowance of £6,035, but above that figure income tax is currently charged at two rates:- Any income up to £34,800 will be taxed at 20%;
- Any income over £34,800 will be taxed at 40%.
You may also want to consider using the Entitled To website to see if there are any other benefits that might be available."
