Jacqui Smith?

Slightly off topic for the forum, but what's happened / happening about Jacqui Smith's expenses?

It all seems to have been taken over with Fred Goodwin, and she seems to have got away scot free again?

Is anything happening? I damn well hope so, as the hypocrisy over the whole Fred thing is mindboggling.

I think there will be an investigation - which no doubt will take some time.

Quite how she really expects anyone to believe that a rented room in her sister's house is her main residence is somewhat beyond me.

I'm just wondering if we could use the court of public opinion?! :)

What do you reckon we strip her of?

A sod it, a public lynching is in order what?

On a serious note, what's deeply unsettling about Goodwin's pension is the mob justice that seemed to be being meted out. Its a very slippery slope.

The Government is pursuing an individual out of spite and malice, and areprepared to introduce new laws solely to deal with this issue. They've lost the plot.

I don't think the expenses regulations stipulate main residence - just where you spend the majority of your time. The concept that a cabinet minister spends more time in London than in their constituency doesn't surprise me.

The outcome to this will be that she gets cleared of breaking the rules, but the rules get tightened.

This says it all. Her main defence was that she was in compliance with the rules; rather than that her main residence was her sister's property.

All I can say is snout, trough and firmly.

    Disgusting.

Yep. MP with snout in trough exploiting expenses loophole created by other expenses for their self-aggrandisement.

Its a shocker. Never seen it before.

There is mounting evidence from people that this is not the case. only one neighbour has "stood up for her". 3-4 others in the street are all of the same opinion.

It's a shame she will not allow the security logs to be shown, as she "does not feel the need". As it would clear up a hell of a lot.

Are you seriously suggesting her "second home" is the one she goes to, where her family are, where she spends all time shes not at work, where her family live, her children go to school, she spends christmas, and she will live in once she has finished working?

Funny that, everyone else who has two places considers their main home as the family home. Must be the rest of us that are wrong?

Anyway, I just wondered why it went so quiet, so quick!

Wookster, do you think it is as disgusting as the incident Ron Davies had on Clapham Common?
