Hey all,
I'm quite a creative person and was thinking about making and selling some hand-made cards - as its just a grey idea at the mo not got anything set in stone - just I thought it best to get info like what legal requirements etc do i need before i start setting up a website and start selling? and what kind income should I expect from such a business?
If anyone in the biz could give me any tips that would be spinny-martin-super >> :money:

A friend of mine went over to N.Ireland and got a contract with a coiple of shops there ( apparantly the cards are not so good there). She made 500 St Patrick's Day cards and was paid £1,000. She is now busy making Easter cards and cards for First communion.
She had to go to N.I as so many people are making them over here.0 -
Its a hard business to trade in, not many people will buy that sort of thing..
You could try jewelery if you are a creative person, as well as cards and perhaps get a stall at local fairs. If you set up a website you have to declare to HMR. But to be honest, im not sure if its something that will make you lots of money, as the effort that goes into making the cards is quite a lot and you may not make the money you want from it. But good luck!!0 -
i checked ebay and seen people selling different theme cards. some were selling thomas tank engine and sesame street cards and invitations. but im not too sure if that is legal to do. dont you need permission from thos trademarks b4 you did something like that?0

I think that if they allow you purchase the card toppers etc, then you can use them for your own use, ie your kids party, etc. But then selling them on would be dodgy ground. I guess most people on ebay would say that the party was cancelled, etc...
If your gonna take this route, id definitely check that its legal.Signature down for maintenance :rotfl:0
