Duty Free Sale!!

Options
** Although the airport security checks should be in place to stop people getting into areas they should not, we would not wish to be seen to advocate any illegal activity. That said, it is unclear as to whether the sale, or indeed the area in question are inside a restricted area so we would only encourage people to be careful and be mindful that airport security is a very current concern and that if you are not allowed in, you accept the decision. Very sorry people this is a very late post, this sale started monday and finishes this friday times are 8am to 8pm and last entry at 7.30pm

For Staff only but you can definatly blag you way in and say you forgot your ID.  make sure you say you work in the aiport and a good excuse is that you work for starbucks or harrods or boots in T3 after security. You have a Yellow Pass. this info is just in case he asks questions. look presentable at least.

i saw many people blag thier way in, you are allowed to take one person with you.

now the directions.

from T2 ask any staff where the sale is or as you look AT T2 from outside to the left you will see "Queens Building" there are 2 double doors go through them and just follw the signs. and thats it.

trust me definatly worth it. i bought armania night and armania red for £25 100ml. loads of other stuff too. many perfumes like blue water deep for men £25 100ml each. FCUK silver box is £17. Dunhill Desire Blue is £17. ralph lauren romance for men is £26. DKNY mens the long bottle is £20. they have many others and many more for ladies. its worth going thier to check it out. tomm is the last day but they open at 8am.

Parking is only £3.70 for a hour right next to the terminal. definatly worth it new stock arrives twice a day.

Good luck and any more questions. just ask me.

another thing you could do is just wear one of those silver chains but hiding the pass if he sees that he wont ask. i asked him how come you arnt asking every person for thier ID he said as soon as i see the neck chain its cool.i was just curious. thats all. last year they were asking everyone.

i say again its definatly worth it. they had some cool sun glasses too plus neat watches. glasses were name brands and i saw some gucci for £50. also becuase tomm is the last day many teddy bears and choclates will be coming down in price. also be prepared to wait in the line outside for 15mins max.

please let me know who ever goes and what they think. ill be posting this next year too. i could try to find out if theres one in gatwick or staines will let you know. best to ask a member of staff at the airport one day, they know what goes on at the airport. i have a strong felling its next week but not sure.

bye.

lol. naa its outside the secure area of the airport. its just a big kind of hall they have setup for staff to purchase duty free without going thorough customs and filling in thier forms. its once a year. all other times we are allowed to purchase things but have to fill in a customs clearance form and then the item is held at the airport for a period of 24 hrs then it can be collected not sure why though.

anyway give it ago. and see what happens. if you cant get in just ask a different staff member in the terminal can you let me in the duty free sale please i have forgotten my ID.

I don't think information like that should be posted on an open forum.

Call me what you like but I'd say that's a highly irresponsible way to use this place.

    I hope more people complain.

dont get you, its a sale for god sake. its like a sale in argos for staff like the RO one we had some time ago. its was for staff but many people managed to post codes and many people from the public managed to save loads of cash. its got nothing to do with security. becuase its a staff sale they would like to see only staff attending it but members of the public can get in and save loads of money. its quite a distance away from the airport terminal, its a seperate building,

the sale is in heathow btw.

So why all the cloak and dagger arrangements?

Don't answer that, you answered it yourself when you said:

Not like Argos at all is it?

Please don't reply. I'm just making a point.

ok forget it. its a sale if you guys think they are going to search you for going into a hall, then there is some misunderstanding. all they would like to see is that you are staff. becuase its a staff sale.

Good luck who ever manages to go.

Good luck who ever manages to go.

    Exactly ;D
  • Oh my goodness - are these sales still going on - I remember these from when I flew for BA 20 years ago!

There are simply getting rid of stock that has been held in the bonded warehouse. I must be honest never found particularly cheap as most of the stuff could be picked up overseas for less. It was advertised to all staff @ Heathrow. Anyone who knew about could go in ( well in my day anyway). They couldn't advertise as a public sale as it would breach the pricing regulations with the cosmetic companies, plus the terminals couldn't accomodate an influx of shoppers having to make 2 visits to buy their items and then return the next day to collect.
  • sounds good, but i agree the prices dont sound that good

you can get better deals by hunting around on the high street , or when flying outside of the eu

yep its the same as it was 20 years ago, that is a long time. i only knew about it from about 3 years ago. but nowdays you get the good there and then as soon as its paid for its yours.

i must say that the refund issue is a bit strange though after the sale for staff is over its virtually impossible to get refunds or exchanges unless you buy a plane ticket and get into duty free inside the termianl. lol.

i also agree, stuff is much cheaper overseas. my mate who was thier with me said he bought a couple fragarances from france for around £15 each. they were £25 at the sale.
