How to get best possible price at MFI

Does anyone have any advice or experience of how to get the best possible price on items from MFI? We have to make a few purchases at the weekend amounting to around £1500 and wondered if anyone out there could give us some haggling ammo.
We will be paying £1200 in Tesco deal vouchers but obviously wont tell them that untill we've agreed on a price
One thing I've noticed is that they seem to be more expensive in store than online, has anyone used this argument to get a discount in store? (Unfortunately we can't use the deal vouchers if we order online or by phone
)
Any tips would be greatly appreciated. :kisses:

W've chosen a new bathroom suite along with cabinets and fittings. The fitting charge is over £900. We had realised we could have a local fitter install the units at a much cheaper rate, but because of a couple of possible problems with the bathroom, thought it would be easier to stay with the same firm.
The cost including fitting is around £2000, I phoned the salesman and expressed my concerns. He phoned back and stated they could do the installation for £100 less. Uncertain whether to go ahead.0 -

Once you have got a price form them with all the current applicable discounts, ask about whether you get any further discounts with their finance. MFI, like most companies, get a kickback (bonus payment) from the finance company and they can use this to offset further discount to you.
I recently ordered new bedroom furniture and I signed up for a deal that meant I could pay part of the bill with Tesco Clubcard vouchers and the rest on finance. The finance deal has to run for 3 months before I can repay the balance but the interest on the balance for that period is more than compensated for by the extra discount that I got (provided I remember to pay the balance off promptly) and they also gave me 5 year insurance cover for free.

Hi
My God thats a fortune, get a local fitter to give you a quote, if you've got no recommendations look in your local papers.
£900 is beyond belief, I think my local plumber charged me about £300 and for that, he fitted the bathroom suite, laid wooden floor and put 3 spotlights in for me.
I would really shop around as I'm pretty sure you'll get a lower quote than that.
Hope this helps0 -
placed an order for £1541 at mfi today. the delivery charge that came up on her screen at mfi was £55. we told her when we priced it up online the delivery charge was £30. she honoured it straight away, no questions. the quote we got online didnt include a couple of items that we ordered extra in store, so as soon as total order went over £1500, the £55 delivery charge should apply! however, we played dumb ( ) and when we said it was £30 on tinternet, she was happy to oblige!
i know when your talking £1500, £25 saving aint all that great, but better in your pocket than theirs....0 -
Bought a kitchen from MFI this time last year. Did research in store & decided what appliances we wanted. Went home & found each loads cheaper on tinternet. When ordering kitchen produced printouts of cheaper appliances & salesman matched them immediately. Also when totalling came to just over £2000 and said shame my budget was £2000 so knocked a bit more off (think it was delivery charge) to bring it below £2000!
We felt that the salesman was so helpful because we said we were going ahead with the kitchen that day and were quite willing to buy the appliances elsewhere, any money is better than no money (remember they are salesmen/women and they have taregts to meet etc).
Weren't doing Tesco clubcard vouchers then but looking to buy fitted bedroom soon and hope to get good deal by similar methods.0 -

MFI quoted me £600 to install a bedroom, i knew i could get that cheaper elsewhere. i asked the guy doing the floor (also a joiner) if he would do it and he agreed. His chin hit the floor when he saw how many pieces it came in (it had seeminlgly 100's of pieces) because he didn't then want to do it it dragged on and on. The end result was OK, but painful in terms of time and hassle.
i have no idea what MFI fitters are like but at least they do these installations reguarly - i will factor in a MFI fitter next time.0 -
Given the trouble MFI are currently in (persistant rumours of breaking banking covenants) i'm amazed that if you don't make them a reasonable offer for their stuff they don't bite your hand off...
I would strongly recommend anyone buying from MFI to purchase with a credit card so in the event they do go bust you are not left high and dry sans money and goods! The Early bird may catch the worm ...but its the second mouse that gets all the cheese!0
