Instore Price Enquiries - Frustrated?

When you are shopping at a busy S/Mkt and find no ESL on a product you want what do you do? Take it with you to the Checkout when about to pay and then discard it if the price is not desirable. Or pester one of infrequent free SAs and ask.
How it would be wonderful if the larger stores could take a leaf out of NETTO trading practice and put instore a scanner for customers to use themselves. Having lived overseas most large French and German stores do it so why cant the UK ones? I've lost count of the number of times I have suggested it to stores - any come back? None.
E.g. I spotted the post earlier this week of mega reductions on Tesco Own brand frozen meals. Only 10p. Visited Tesco that evening and the ESL's were missing on some items. I finally found a SA to help me. Explained the situation. Price is printed on the box - but some are reduced! are these? Did she then just scan the items - No - she had to check herself. Walk to and from the freezer cabinet and Only then would she scan the three items. Time wasted 15 mins
Am I the only one who would appreciate one of these in every third aisle in a mega-large store where it takes 5+ mins to the checkout or CS desk?
Safeway used to have the handscanners with their ABC card which was brill but didnt take off.
Are any of you MSEr's fortunate to have stores with scanners in store, not just at the checkout for price checks. Any one interested in trying to petition Tesco Asda Morrison S.bury etc to introduce this? Just think how much easier it would be to check incorrectly priced items at Tesco.
Looking forward to your comments.

If you read the Tesco Misprices thread you will see that although there are a limited number of working scanners available, these are indeed very precious and much respected items. Tesco must have a policy only to have a minimum amount of scanners available.0

Our local waitrose have these..............shame none of the other supermarkets do the same!
My policiy now is......'If it hasnt got a price, Im not buying it!' .....and a lot of shops are lsoing custom from it........Ive lost count of the amount of times prices are missing from products or off shelves, not just supermarkets either!.......
Only time I make an exception is when I know something is going cheap, thanks to you folks! lol (Or its something I REALLY need!)
Bout time these shops cracked the whip and made sure everythings priced up!Tatts :hello: :kisses2:0 -
I remember years ago when I lived with my Dad they was a little scanner thing attached to the smaller trolleys in Sainsbury's in Halifax. It was advertised as being helpful for the elderly/disabled.
You scanned all your items in as you went round then when you got to the checkout you just handed the scanner to the assistant & it would automatically go into the till without you having to put all your items on the conveyor.
It was when they had those blue boxes with the orange handles (anyone remember those?), you could pack your shopping whilst you were going round & it was a lot easier - back in the days when my Dad had a car!
I have often said to my Dad they should bring something similar back.2025 - finally back comping after a stressful house move - send me fairy dust please0
