    Hello there.

If you have the band done in the UK you will be looking at mega money. I think in the region of £7000. However, if you consider going across to Europe - France or Belgium you can more or less half the UK cost.

The care is very good and no language problems for the french surgeon I used. Dr Frering in Clinique Sauveguarde, Lyon.

How much do you want to lose? I was 24.5 stone when I had mine done and have had it for 8 years now.

They were talking to a hypnotist on the radio last week and he hypnotised someone so they believed they had had an operation to have a gastric band fitted...........and it worked.

If you fit all the criteria, then why not have it on the NHS?
    How to find a dentist.
    1. Get recommendations from friends/family/neighbours/etc.
    2. Once you have a short-list, VISIT the practices - dont just phone. Go on the pretext of getting a Practice Leaflet.
    3. Assess the helpfulness of the staff and the level of the facilities.
    4. Only book initial appointment when you find a place you are happy with.

Probably because it is as readily available as dentistry on the NHS when you fit all the criteria....

Most of that seems to be done by eastern europeans in delapidated back street clinics as well, so not the only similarity then.

the waiting lists for NHS surgery are very long I believe. As I said, I was 24 stone and was looking at a 2yr wait at the time. Ended up going private abroad solely because of the cost involved.

Why not just go on a diet?

It wont cost you thousands of pounds to do so, and will help you change your eating habits for life.
You lied to me Edward. There IS a Swansea. And other places.....

Don't you think the OP has tried or is already trying this?! Especially if they are now thinking of something as extreme as surgery.

Maybe/maybe not.... The OP could just be looking for a short term solution to a long term problem...

IMHO it may be more constructive to just ask the OP to elaborate on what else they have been doing. However, in this case they are just asking about where they can get the gastric band, and they may not wish to discuss any further details :) It is quite a private matter, after all.

  • Jeepers.

I said i fit the criteria so noone would ask such a dumb question like why not go on a diet. lol.

    NHS is not an option.

I ask about cost as mny options are the UK, Northern Ireland or Republic of Ireland. Im not sure which would be better. Currently the price is 6K.

Anyone who has experience of going abroad please let me know what clinic.

Im not too confident about having it done abroad.
