self-employment

My partner has just changed jobs and over the last month has become self-employed. We currently pay £65 per week including £5 arrears and owe £1100 in arrears, due to the csa taking a year to re-assess our case as my wages are taken into account as well (i am self-employed too).
My partner's wages has significantly decreased this month as he is just starting out in business and can hardly afford to pay the mortgage!
Can someone advise us as to what we should do? Should we advise them of the decrease in earnings or not pay/decrease payment and wait until they try and arrest his wages?
Thanks for your replies.

as he is self employed they cannot put a DEO on his wages.
does he expect his wages to be considerably lower for a while? If you call and ask for a reassesment then it will be adjusted in line with his new earnings. If you leave it and he continues to earn less than usual and not pay the full amount of maintainence then more arrears will build up0 -
Sphynx_lady - All changes of circs are completed and backdated to the date the change is reported therefore it would be vital that your partner contacts them asap. They will then be able to backdate the assessment once it is completed when evidence of his new earnings is available.Comp Wins 2011 : Cant wait to start listing everything:j:j:j0

thanks for replies to this post re my partner's change of job. just wondered though, what if we can't afford to pay the usual £65 per week plus the agreed £20 arrears? we are confident that his wages will increase but just can't pay this amount at the moment.
I'm under the impression that if we contact the csa tomorrow they will say we have to keep paying the same amount, which is impossible.0
