...are ....what? empty? filled with candy?

I believe you meant "HMV 70% off boxsets" ?

A spelling mistake that is becoming much more common, and almost as infuriating as "open 7 till 9" (a till is something you put money in; not an abbreviation for until - which would be 'til, or just til)

Anyhow.... Sorry for the rant :p (and please feel free to pick apart my post for spelling & grammar mistakes!)

Actually, till was the proper way of expressing the preposition before until. Until was adapted from the word till (by Americans, probably) and has since been abbreviated to 'til. If you check any dictionary or grammar reference book you'll see that till is perfectly acceptable.

I very much agree with you about the misuse of "off" and "of."
However you do invite others to analyse your own post, something I am going to take you up on.
You say that the use of "till" to mean "until" is an spelling error. This is incorrect. From The Oxford English Dictionary:

till1

preposition & conjunction less formal way of saying UNTIL.
— ORIGIN Old English (not a shortened form of until).

Despite this rather embarrassing error on your part () I take my hat off to your courage in allowing all and sundry to pass judgement on your spelling.

Something I have no intention of doing myself! So if you spot any mistakes, please keep them to yourselves!! :shhh:
