Pudding following a fondue

Options
Hi everyone,

I'm hoping that someone here is able to give me some inspiration!

Next weekend OH's parents and grandparents are visiting for the weekend  !! I am planning to do a cheese fondue but am absolutely stuck for impressive but moneysaving ideas for pudding. OH's family are big dessert eaters, but we aren't so I'm a bit clueless as to what I could make that would follow a fondue nicely! Last time they came down I did lemon meringue pie so that is out of the question. Can anyone please help me think of something to make!?

Also, for the fondue I'm planning on having fresh bread, steak, carrots, peppers and a nice big salad. Although this is generally what OH's family are used to having with it, I don't know if there is anything else I can do to go with it that is a bit different  Does anyone have any ideas?

Thank you for your help!!

  • melba toast is really nice to scoop cheese out with :D and you get loads in a packet for about 65p
  • I'd personally follow a fondue with some fresh fruit. You could always do a chocolate sauce to go with it if people fancy.

How about some small new potatoes to dip in the fondue? I've also had it with pieces of pear which is nice.

I saw a "recipe" on TV that was taking a 1 litre carton of pomegranate juice, chuck it into a freezer box (ice cream box), toss in a couple of teaspoons of sugar, then put the box in the freezer to freeze for a few hours. Once it's frozen, scrape it off and it's a Pomegranate Sorbet.

    Hi littleemmie,

I would go with the fresh fruit idea too but there are lots of pudding ideas and recipes on these threads that might give you some inspiration:

I love the sound of all your ideas - thank you so much!

I haven't had melba toasts for years! Potatoes is a great idea, thank you! I just felt that what I planned didn't seem like much so they will help to add variety iykwim!!

I love the sound of fresh fruit and the sorbet. Maybe a fresh fruit salad type thing with hm sorbet so people can choose or have both together? What do you think? The only thing is I don't like pomegrante, but I presume it will work with another juice instead?!

    Thanks everyone

This cheesecake tastes amazing, I have tried it with and without the raspberries and it is fab either way. Really easy to make, just make sure you chill it for 24 hours because it makes it taste even better.

kjmtidea - that looks super and I still have raspberries in the freezer from last year's harvest.
What sort of cream cheese do you use? I'm at a loss these days since it doesn't come in foil packs labeled 'creamm cheese' any more.......

    Thanks!
