Any uses for 'past its best' yogurt?

Hi
I have just found a big tub of virtually fat free natural yogurt at the back of the fridge with a use by date of 10 Feb!

Should I throw it out or are there any 'safe' suggestions to use this?

While I wait and hope for some ideas, I think I better start to sort out the shelves in my fridge...

Thanks,
Mup.

    Hi
Thanks for those links, gonna try the 'native' one and hope we live to tell the tale! Want sure whether just to sling it but the 'new OS' in me thought I should check out the options...
  • You can paint it on terracotta plant pots for outside and it helps them weather much faster so they look more lived in

  • I'd use it in cakes, muffins or scones.
  • I dunno about everyone else but we always ate 'past sell by date' yoghurt in our house as a kid! As long as it looked and smelled alright it got eaten! Still do the same now and nothing has ever happened to us!!

  • A chicken marinade would be nice, go through your spices and just add a little of what you fancy to the yogurt, leave the diced chicken in it for a couple of hours then fish it out, saute it to brown it a little, add the marinade to the pan and simmer till the chicken is cooked through

it would make good scones or scotch pancakes would do the same as buttermilk it would be acidic just as you can use out of date milk for the above too
  • The jan issue of Prima Magazine had an article called 'Past its sell- by - date?'
For yoghurt it says - 'the high acidity means it's usually quite safe. You can eat it for 3 - 5 days after the use-by-date if it looks and smells fresh and the container hasn't expanded'
