Damaged Cake and Other Wedding Woes

We made a list of everything that went wrong at the hotel, and the incomplete list was at 22 items. The invoice arrived yesterday, including an itinerary with a series of mistakes - it was mailed (not even by airmail!) to our German address nine days before the wedding, asking us to check it for errors and return it. We'd told them by phone that we'd be in the UK from the 21st onwards and would need everything sent there.

I'm annoyed all over again, and have decided on a compromise for you all: if anyone's planning a wedding reception in central Liverpool, feel free to PM me and I'll let you know the name of the hotel and further details. Otherwise I'm keeping my mouth shut pending a complaint.

An update: my debit card was declined while we were on our honeymoon. I called the bank to see what was happening, and the hotel in question had charged a large extra amount to the card without letting us know or giving us any explanation as to what we were paying for, and this after we received an acknowledgement that the reception was paid in full.

I've not been able to find anyone who'll talk to me about it at the hotel, and have opened a dispute with the bank. But further warning to anyone who's booking in Liverpool city centre - I'm not publicly outing them pending the results of my complaint, but if you're booking in that region and you're concerned PM me and I'll tell you who they are.
