Important details are:
Page number
Whether its a regional edition
Expiry date of the voucher
Whether its store specific and has a barcode.
The cost of the newspaper

Remember if you go shopping look in as many newspapers as you can - Post even if you don't see any coupons.

Hello all.

After almost a month of waiting it's finally arrived - £2.20 coupon in the Daily Mail today.

Just been up to Tesco and tried to use it, but it wouldn't scan.

I know they stock the magazine so that's not the problem??

Can someone try at Asda and see if it works there???

did they try the handheld scanner on it or try typing in the code?

If you look at the printing you can see why - its a poorly reproduced jpeg with rough edges on the barcode i.e. not straight lines. Just like some instore reductions with bardcodes for the checkouts - they often dont scan either.

Perhaps it is to stop it being used more than one in self scan checkouts?

Did it actually scan and an error message come up on the screen (such as 'Coupon Invalid') or did it not scan at all?

Ive just tried it as Tesco with my regular cashier. It bleeped to say wouldnt accept it.... sometimes this happens at Tesco and then the enxt time it scans... think they need to update their computer to take it thats all...

Can't you "force" the issue by actually buying a copy of Living & Gardens in Tesco and use one of the vouchers genuinely ?

If they can't make it work then don't proceed with the purchase.

OK, when (if) they sort it out, it will cost you a quid and use one of the coupons but you will at least then be able to use the other 7.
