Witness to mortgage deeds...

Me and OH are in the proceed of buying a house, we have just received the mortgage deed through to sign. Where the witness needs to sign, it states that 'each borrowers signature must be separately witnessed'.

Silly question, but does this mean a different person for each borrower, or does it mean that the same person has to sign twice?:o

it means that both of you have to have a witness to your signature. so you can't both sign and then take it to the witness, you need to both sign infront of that person

Yep, what they said! The witness doesn't have to be anyone special either, like a doctor or solicitor, a random friend or neighbour is fine. Don't use a relative!

Thanks everyone! The more I read it, the more I thought that might be the case!
