  • Just got back from taking DD to Brownies & what a farce, we was told it was a 'pamperiing treat' for Mother's Day told there would be no hard sell etc

£1.50 for a raffle ticket/entrance fee - knew about this, donations for refreshments fair enough then was thrown a 'body shop party' catalogue & asked outright how much would I be spending - told her nothing, so host went on about bargains etc (REALLY hard sell!!!) '£66 for some make up brushes' told her again no she wasn't pleased. In the end DD bought a small set from a 'bargain' area for £4.00 but as we were leaving we heard host say 'some people shouldn't bother coming if not willing to buy anything' I know it wasn't just me who was annoyed at her attitude.

Assignments not too hard this time...justt need to think of a topic to do it on, and i can get started, but the probem is deciding!!
Anyway, have to do a small research project thing, 3000 words!!
Can't choose between doing it about domestic violence or forced marriages, cos they're both interesting, and lots of info in media and on the net!!

If i choose one of these, i have to decide on a question i want my research to find the answer to!
eg. does domestic violence lead to mental health problems/suicide?

Thats what i can't do...choose a topic, and choose a good question to research!!

    Hi all again!:o

Quick question to pick your brains!!
Please can you give me your opinions on what topic/question to do, as im totally stuck!!
    THANKS!!!!!
    xxx

ps. Thanks for advising me about forced marriages cmc, will probably nag you later about what question you think is good for that topic!:o :rotfl:
    See you later! xxx

    Hi sally
havent read back further than last post,
My mums husband was a violent alcoholic, left her with head injuries, broken ribs etc, from when i was 9-26yo(which is when we finally got rid of him, he hadnt been violent or drank much for a few years in end , but started drinking again n got in trouble with police etc, so we sent him packing, never been seen again)

def has had an impact on my mums health. mentally for sure,
dont know if we could help you if you chose domestic violence,?
    xxx
THANKS to everyone who posts competitions. you are all :A.

Hi Sally, my only advice - for what it is worth - is choose something doable, if this makes sense. If your data is merely media-based then go with what you personally prefer. If you need to collect data then you will have to think practically of what will pay you off! Both topics are interesting but quite sensitive.

On second thoughts, DV seem to be a big issue at the moment, so apart from career opprtunities, you can also link it to forced marriages, in a way?

    Good luck..
I have to write 80.000 words
