Help Me I Haven't A Clue!!

hiyerrr :D:wave: . Well, basically, I'm a 13 year old girl who has a cousin's christening to go too. This is my first ever christening and I haven't a clue what to wear, so would really appreciate some help. Also, my aunt and uncle are quite posh and I have to make a good impression because the last time they saw me (ages ago when i had no style at all) I looked hideous.

Thanks in advance ;)

Hi Fiioner, welcome to the wonderful world of MSE. Ifnore what people think and wear what you feel comfortable in.

Do you have a nice colourful dress? or Maybe a nice top and skirt? The best thing is something you will feel comfortable in.

I don't think you need to get dressed up so much you look like a bridesmaid or something but just look as if you are going out for a posh lunch out, pretty dress, well groomed hair, polished shoes etc.

  • Hey, Lipsy do some lovely dresses ... not sure whether you are actually a size yet but think they have 6,8's, 10's etc if you are. If you go to the special offers section on www.lipsy.com you might be able to find yourself a gorgeous dress at a bargain price. HTH

  • Believing in yourself as a worthy person, no matter what you are wearing, is the coolest thing you can do. It's not what you wear it's how you wear it! Taking an interest in other people is also cool. Apart from that find something to wear that you like yourself.

if you go to somewhere like New Look and ask a sales assistant they will be able to give you advice on what to wear, obviously you don't have to buy what they suggest but it might give you some ideas.
    and welcome to MSE :hello:
  • Hello there, I usually go for a pretty skirt or dress with a cardigan as a cover up for a Christening. There are lots of pretty dresses around, check out Primark or New Look. If you wanted to be a bit smarter you could have a suit type jacket instead of a cardigan, but you would probably get more wear out of a cardigan.

.fiioner I remember what I looked like at 12/13 and cringe! but it isn't really a big deal, I was happy in it at the time and that is the main thing, I think it is a rule in life to be embarrassed by the clothes you wear as a child and teenager! I'm sure you didn't look hideous!
I would agree with a dress and cardigan, but not too much make up or high heels as it is a church.
    Good luck!

You also need to buy something that you are going to wear again, we are going to a christening on sunday and have bought my two boys a smart casual shirt each that they can wear again maybe on our holidays. Remember to have fun aswell its a celebration, and a chance to catch up on family that you probably havent seen for a while. Im sure they will see that you have grown up since the last time they saw you.
