Help with childs red nose day costume

DS's school have decided to support red nose day with a dressing up theme - the idea is silly scientists to co-incide with a school topic that month.

Help please!! I cant sew so needs to be something I can buy but other than a white coat I am totally stuck. DS is in primary so doesnt help with needing a small costime.

Any ideas would be gratefully received.

You could use a man's white shirt as the white coat, not sure what else to suggest for the silly bit. A wild wig maybe? Slippers instead of shoes. Bright coloured socks. Oversized glasses, not necessarily worn, could be stuck on top of head. large test tube, could make out of large fizzy drink bottle.

Don't have any more suggestions, think this is a very hard one!

  • Man's shirt is what I would've suggested - I'd imagine the supermarkets sell basic white one's fairly cheaply. If it has a breast pocket, stick a pen in and add an ink stain. Odd socks; glasses with no lens in and a bit of tape wrapped around to look like they're mended. If he has enough hair, muss it up and gel it so it looks 'wild'.
some people grin and bear it, others smile and do it :)

Yes i thought either a wig with a bald head and hair on the sides, or dye and spike his hair.

Glasses with those eyes that boggle out, maybe paint on some big bushy eyebrows, or make him look a bit singed! Test tube, pens, lab coat.
  • Thanks everyone, some great ideas so will start searching the net for props.
  • You could tie dye the mans shirt to make it into funky colours! that would be a bit wacky! use leg warmers in odd colours over some black leg warmers, I like the idea of slippers! and also the pretend glasses with tape round them!
