I have been quite happy being paid hourly on a weekly basis, now boss wants to still pay me hourly, but on the last day of the month!!!! Without a thought of how i am going to fund myself, is it legit? I havent had a contract of employment, so any thoughts peeps? I have been working there for a year, and the benefits are crap lol ie no sick pay, extra hours paid as per normal etc etc ........perhaps he should stick it!

Usually when switching from weekly to monthly a decent employer will give you a one-off advance of pay. But your employer sounds like a ****!0

Is he asking you or telling you this is what will happen?
If this happens make sure you are upto date in pay and know what weeks pay you have been paid for and which weeks are going to be paid for at the end of the month - if you know what I mean. You could tell the boss that if he does this when he does the first time you could do with an interim payment?Weight Loss - 102lb0 -
From what I can recall, yes they can do it, it happened to me. Although to be honest, I had been on monthly for many years, and then went back to weekly, and it was harder to be weekly paid! Everything was arranged around paying monthly, utilities, water, TV, and now I have to remember to budget again out of my weekly cash (instaed of monthly direct into bank).
Best thing is find out when he is planning on paying you - is it the last day of the month? Then perhaps you can persude him to make the changover half way through the month, so you only have to go a couple of weeks on one week, if you get my meaning.
Not sure there are any rules on what rate of pay extra hours should be, I think it depends on how many hours you do in the first place. Think sick pay is the same, I know from something happening with a friend, that over a certain number of regular hours, she (the employer) has to pay.
I am sure someone with direct knowledge can clarify this for you.
I am fairly sure you should have a contract of employment though?0
