Is this a scam?
Rang a company to get a loan of £3500
they were brokers, they want a fee of £49.99 to let me know the lender.
I have really bad credit, have moved back home and have lost my job
they dont need a guarantor but somehow they said the loan company have accepted me in principle as long as I was truthful
this cant be right can it?

Yes. Avoid paying the fee as chances are you will be declined after parting with your money as you have only been accepted 'in principal'.0

There are lots of so called finance companies out there that prey on desperate people, I tried to get a loan last year from wentworth direct finance, they told me that I had been accepted but to get my money I had to pay £49.99, so I googled them and found lots of sites where people had actually paid the £49.99 only to be told later on that we are sorry wwe cannot find a firm to offer you the loan you want, hence now £49.99 lighter and unable to get it back, so I never sent the money, they are just brokers who will agree to whatever loan you want then send you an agreement to sign and post back with payment, that is their fee then for attempting to find a company who will agree to give you a loan, they should not be allowed to get away wuth it but they do :mad:0

Just exactly how do you think you will be able to pay back this loan if you have a history of bad credit and no job?
Sorry to be frank but any company that lends to you would have to be completely mad.0 -
These people are attempting to rip us off too. We needed to borrow £12,000 and went through TESCO. The company that contacted us were MYWH loans (www.mywh.co.uk). They rung us 5 times a day to get us to pay their brokers fee to find a lender. We both have excellent credit scores, both A+. Strangely after this we went to a big bank and they lent us it on the spot. Anyway they promised us explicitly that if we did not get the loan 100% we wouold get a refund. They didn't get us a single lender. We have contacted them several times and one person said they would send us a refund form and another that we had to write to them. They have done nothing nor replied to any emails. It sounds like a complete scam and are giving TESCO a bad name.
Do not go near them!!0 -

Perhaps in your situation a different solution may be more appropriate? Something like a Debt Management Plan? Rather than get into more debt then still not be able to pay it, agree smaller repayments with your creditors until your situation improves.Debt £5600 all 0%0 -
