Help needed re- college and benefits

hi, my partner and i are currently on jobseekers income based and he is wanting to go to college but we need to know what will happen to benefits etc? we have 2 children aged 6 years and 6 months. I wasnt to sure if we needed to claim income support instead of jsa when he goes to college?
any help will be great thankyou

Depends on the hours involved in the course.

thankyou, its a 17 week course to begin with and is for 2 hrs a week at college but also about 2 hours a week a a work placement

That is fine as long as it is not over 16 hours a week then you are fine, but you do have to fill out a form at the Jobcentre to let them know anyway.

You can still claim for JSA if your other half is still looking for work whilst he is on the course-as cat says, he will need to complete a form at the Jobcentre to reflect this.
