Bankruptcy Discharge and Bank Charges Reclaim

Hi,
I'm due for AD tomorrow! A huge relief it's nearly over. What I am wondering is if I can now put in claims for bank charges. It is nearly £7000. The banks were down on my list of creditors but I hadn't put the claims in for charges before I went bankrupt.
I read another thread where someone advised to call OR. Even after my AD I think I will still be nervous to call OR. Can anyone reassure me that once I have my AD, then the OR can't come after me for anything else and I shouldn't be worried to call them.
Also I read that I have to write to all my creditors and send a certificate of discharge so my credit file can be put straight. Does anyone know if I send a letter of discharge instead (issued free by OR) would that be ok? Courts charge £60 for certificate I think.
Any information gratefully received.
Thanks very much.
Sarah

remember though when you go BR, you legally assign all your debts and assets to your OR. Anything that is reclaimable or oweable on those debts are no longer your responsibility, they are the ORs responsibility as he "owns" them now.

Any charges run up on new accounts after BR though, is another matter as they would not have been included (obviously!)

As Phil says, the accounts don't belong to you now, so neither do the charges.

If you do claim you'll probably find the bank will send the cheque straight to the OR

  • Thanks for that. Reading the threads it seems to be a grey area and dependent on your OR, but like you said your debts now belong to the OR so it follows that the charges do as well.
    Thanks again for your advice.
