I've been toying with the idea of doing exactly that for a couple of days now. I've also recently acquired the name and number of the actual manager (I spoke to assistants and catering supervisor) so I'll get to speak to the person who would have the final word anyway.

are they a chain? perhaps you could contact head office? I wonder if we should campaign for you and your wedding ma (the huge one!) to do a spread on this type of thing? They have a section on their website asking for ideas?
I agree though - get someone else to book it as a party - then phone the manager and tell them and demand to know why.0
