Lowell Debt Collections / Red

my partner had a mobile phone yearrrrs back went into dispute with tmobile over the bill heard nothing for a while then red -lowell contacted him threatening court action if the debt isnt repayed my partner has been paying lowell for a while now and i believe he has paid most of the debt off about £600 and there is a bout £300 remaining,
my question is , since i have recently looked into lowell i am reading some bad things about them, do i carry on paying this company ? i need advice please
