Strange Credit Report from Experian.

Hi,
I've applied for 3 loans in the past 6 months all refused. Fair enough. I have a credit card HSBC. Anyway my report from experian only displays "linked addresses" and no other information about previous searches, my credit card agreement or another agreement I have with HFC. When I applied for the aforementioned loans I can remember having to wait a while until they got back to me as initially they couldn't give me an answer due to the file not showing. The letters I got from the loan companies all stated refusual due to salary rather than anything that was one the reports. I paid 2 pounds for the report from experian. Previously it has listed the agreements I had with lists of 000000000's etc to confirm payments. Now my file is showing nothing at all!
The electoral roll information and linked addresses are all correct. So why is the other stuff 'missing'?

Hi DearyMe,
Not sure I can answer your query, but just wanted to say that I checked my Experian report for the first time ever this week and half of the stuff that I have on credit is missing, so you're not the only one with an odd report. I know that there is more than one company which hold credit reports (Equifax is one, I think) and I don't think it's necessarily always Experian which companies check when they're considering whether or not to give you credit. It might be worth checking your report with more than one company to get a comparison and see if there is a pattern to the strangeness!
There should be some kind of legislation about this whereby only one company is allowed to keep your credit report so that we would all know what potential credit companies are looking at before making their decision. At least then we'd all know where we stand. The way it is at the moment it may as well be down to the toss of a coin if you get credit or not! This is a system account and does not represent a real person. Thanks, so I should try Equifax as well?
Just strange that experian hold no information at all especially with me having HSBC credit card and HFC credit agreement both of which I'm advised use experian. Not to mention applications made to Sainsburys, HBOS and Co-op! Surely not all these use equifax? And I have received reports a few years back with all the info about my accounts/credit
Are these 2 pound statutory reports supposed to show all information? Or maybe I have to sign up to their "free" (so long as you cancel the direct debit) report they always shove in our face?0 -
I'm no expert but I know that several of the cards and loans I've applied for (and been rejected for!) in the last 6 months are not appearing on my Experian report, so it might be worth checking Equifax (or similar) just for comparison to see if all your stuff is missing from there too.
It is very odd though - have you tried asking one of the CCCS people what they think?
Btw I got my Experian report for free and it tells me everything I need to know. Not sure what extras you get with the £2 report. This is a system account and does not represent a real person. To contact the Forum Team email forumteam@moneysavingexpert.com0 -
