Whatever exactly happened, he was a gentle man who was intolerably hounded.
I agree, I just happen to lay the blame with the media who pursued him for information, then exaggerated and distorted what he had said to the point that he felt he had to tell his superiors about his unauthorised contact with the media to put the record straight.Hurrah, now I have more thankings than postings, cheers everyone!0 -
Hang on a minute.
Which is most likely;
1) Someone talks about how they are likely to die, and kills themself in a way that fits in with what they had previously talked about, or
2) Someone talks about how they are likely to die, and people murdering them pay attention and decide to do it exactly the way they've predicted?
If someone said "beingjdc is going to murder me by drugging me and hanging me to death off Blackfriars Bridge" then what I certainly wouldn't do if I was going to murder them is hang them off Blackfriars Bridge...
Was the woods comment public knowledge before his death?
<ps i didn't mention murder.>0 -
See, that's the question Fonz.
I normally take conspiracy theories with a pinch of salt, but when you've got a government that clearly states it isn't involved in rendition then admitting that it was you've got to wonder what other activities they are covering up.
Still, the David Kelly case is on a very different scale of conspiracy theory to the Jews plotting 9/11 or man not landing on the moon, both of which are bonkers ideas. Please stay safe in the sun and learn the A-E of melanoma: A = asymmetry, B = irregular borders, C= different colours, D= diameter, larger than 6mm, E = evolving, is your mole changing? I think the not landing on the moon was a brilliant CT and well within the American governments thinking at the time. It is wrong, but in conception, brilliantvivatifosi wrote: »Still, the David Kelly case is on a very different scale of conspiracy theory to the Jews plotting 9/11 or man not landing on the moon, both of which are bonkers ideas.
Freedom is not worth having if it does not include the freedom to make mistakes.0 -
Everyone has heard, and has probably used the term "conspiracy theorist"
And the fact of the term being in common use, also indicates that we generally agree on what it means. I saw a movie by that name, and the title character was a raving lunatic who kept his food in thermoses with combination locks to reduce his chances of being poisoned by imaginary enemies.
Regardless of how the stupid movie turned out, what's important here is the common perception people have of someone to whom that label is applied, and just as important, is who it is that applies the label.
The common perception is that someone who is labeled a "conspiracy theorist" is suffering from some type of psychological disorder, and that label is usually applied to people by our government, and our news media.
The next thing to consider, is that the label is applied to anyone who questions our government's version of events in any matter. Doesn't it logically follow that the media are teaching us to assume that anyone who questions the government is insane?
When that label is applied to a person, doesn't it become easy to dismiss everything they say without even hearing it? How convenient for them.

Topped himself for telling the truth?
I'd have chipped in a fiver towards his lost pension.
Perhaps "Sir Fred" could have chipped in with a tenner.
In my experience it is usually "c0ck-up or conspiracy"
90% of the time it is incompetence.0
