supermarket anomalies

I have recently noticed that buying ready to cook new potatoes in herb butter in the supermarket is often cheaper than buying a pack of new potatoes!

Does anyone know of any other anomalies like this that could save us a few £££s???

Not really, considering you get over twice as many in a bag you have to prepare yourself.

Its like mince and real steaks, the reason the smaller chopped up bits are cheaper is because the supermarkets can basicly chop out the bad bits before mincing the rest and selling it to you...and you would never know/taste the difference.

Also, sometimes they do add water and even bits that would not normally look as appealing (they just hide it in sauce) and probably would not be sold alone unpackaged as a result.

Diced chicken/turkey against the steaks are another example. I tend to ignore the prepared seasoned veg (I count my calories and the calories in the ones with added butter in them never fail to shock me!) but it seems you have found another.

sometimes a chicken in sainsburys with garlic and lemon butter £3.85 is cheaper than a plain chicken.

Always makes me lol when you see the cooked chickens sometimes cheaper than the cook at home ones.

I was after some eggs for the kids sarnies the other night. Wandering round Morrisons I discovered free range hard boiled eggs in the salad bar bit. Filled a tub with these along with cherry toms and cucumber slices.

I am convinced it worked out cheaper than buying the lot seperately. I had noticed the whole cucumbers were a really silly price.
